Why do people come to therapy?

Most people come to therapy because they are struggling in one or more areas of their life and they want to feel better.  Some people feel sad all the time.  Others feel frustrated.  Some struggle to control their anger.  Some people come to therapy for help with relationships -- intimate, family, friends, etc.  Some people feel consumed with anxiety and worry.  Some people can’t sleep.  Some can’t concentrate, some cry too much, some can’t cry at all.  Some wonder why they’re working so hard to hold their lives and their families together.  Some people think their lives look great on paper -- decent job, friends, family -- but still feel empty.  And some people just come to talk.

Will therapy actually help me?

Therapy can help you feel better.  Therapy can help you understand your life a little differently. Therapy can help you understand why you do what you do and how you end up in the situations you're in.  You may begin to understand your life and its patterns in a deeper and richer way.

What would you like to work on?

Would you like to improve your relationship?  Would you like to feel better about yourself?  Do want to be in a better place in your career?  Would you like to develop better emotional and practical tools for your everyday toolbox?  Therapy can be a wonderful avenue for self-examination, improvement and clarity.
